Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information DevChecker collects, why we collect it, how we store and protect it, and the choices you have. We've written it in plain English because a privacy policy you can't understand isn't really a policy.
01 Who we are
DevChecker is operated by Kerarico Pty Ltd (ABN 30 657 881 582, ACN 657 881 582), an Australian company. In this policy, "we", "us", and "our" refer to Kerarico Pty Ltd trading as DevChecker. "You" means anyone who visits our website, submits a form, or otherwise interacts with our service.
We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
02 Information we collect
We only collect information that's reasonably necessary for what we do. That includes:
- Information you give us directly — when you submit our contact form, we collect your name, email address, and any message or details you choose to include.
- Information collected automatically — when you visit our website, our analytics service (Google Analytics) records standard technical data such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, referring URL, and approximate location derived from your IP.
- Cookies and similar technologies — small text files placed on your device by Google Analytics to measure site usage. You can disable these in your browser settings without affecting site functionality.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16, and we do not collect sensitive information (as defined in the Privacy Act) through this website.
03 Why we collect it
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To respond to your enquiry, send you the information you've requested, or follow up on a conversation you've initiated.
- To notify you when DevChecker launches, if you've asked us to.
- To understand how visitors use our site so we can improve it.
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or technical issues.
- To comply with our legal obligations.
We will not use your information for any other purpose without first telling you and, where required, obtaining your consent.
04 How we store and protect it
Your personal information is stored on infrastructure provided by Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the Sydney region (ap-southeast-2), located within Australia. Email correspondence is held in standard email services accessed only by authorised personnel.
We take reasonable steps to protect your information against loss, unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. These measures include encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS), access controls, and the principle of collecting only what we need.
No system is perfectly secure. If we ever experience a data breach that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
05 Who we share it with
We share personal information only in these limited circumstances:
- Service providers — Amazon Web Services (hosting, Australia) and Google Analytics (website analytics, United States). These providers process information on our behalf under contractual obligations.
- Professional advisors — our lawyers or accountants, where reasonably required.
- Legal obligations — where required by Australian law, court order, or to lawful requests by public authorities.
- Business transfers — if Kerarico Pty Ltd is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred to the acquiring entity, subject to the same protections set out here.
Where information is transferred overseas (for example, to Google Analytics servers outside Australia), we take reasonable steps to ensure that the recipient handles it consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
06 Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use our site. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect anonymous usage data. We have configured it to anonymise IP addresses where this option is supported.
You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by disabling cookies in your browser. Doing so will not affect your ability to use the site.
07 How long we keep it
We retain your personal information for as long as it's needed for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law. Specifically:
- Contact form submissions are retained for up to 24 months from your last interaction with us, then deleted.
- Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' default settings, which we periodically review.
- Records we are legally required to keep (for example, tax records) are retained for the period required by Australian law.
08 Your rights
Under the Privacy Act, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct any information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, or misleading.
- Request deletion of your information, subject to any legal obligations we have to retain it.
- Withdraw consent at any time where we are relying on consent to process your information.
- Make a complaint if you believe we have mishandled your personal information.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@devchecker.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable period, normally within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
09 Third-party links
Our website may contain links to third-party sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to read their privacy policies before providing any personal information.
10 Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as our service evolves or as the law changes. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision. Material changes will be highlighted on our website.
